Week 10

Today, we shall talk about the future of the internet.

Following the entires since week 1, where we talked about the history of the internet. The internet was started for military purposes, and now, it has evolved to something the people in the past may never even dare to think of. The same will be for the future.

In the future, another batch of students are probably going to be doing a similar project, where they refer to applications such as "Facebook" or "Twitter" as things of the past. Similarly, they will comment that what they have is something we the past generation may never even dare to think of!

One interesting view to take on the future of the internet is on the implications it may bring.

Take the cartoon above for example. With internet today, we cannot deny the implications it bring. Such as the whole sex videos saga, employers looking at potential employees' facebook accounts, etc. As the internet progresses, what other implications may it bring?
We may not even have to leave homes that often anymore in the future. With internet advancing so fast.
The cartoons above all demonstrated how the internet have brought so much convenience to our lives, that we used it to substitute many things we usually have to do ourselves. Therefore, it is logical to believe that in the future, there will be more applications and tools that the internet will have, to assist humans with shortcuts to life.

Again as mentioned above, this may bring about implications. Then again, the implications it bring may be considered a small sacrifice with the amount of convenience it can bring.

This course has really widened my mind on the world of the internet. In the past, internet used to just be another 'thing' to me. After this course, I realise it is an entire new world which is always change and evolving. In fact, in my opinion, the internet is one which has no boundaries. It is limitless what it can evolve to.

I am glad that I have been exposed to this course, as it taught me to be more attentive to the evolution and implications the internet can bring!
